Theatre Performs for Young Audiences

On Wednesday, October 22nd, Glendale High School’s Theatre production class took their show on the road. They performed their children’s play, Bully Brontosaurus to young audiences at Harold Smith elementary school and for patients at the Phoenix Children’s Hospital. The children’s play is an annual event for the Theatre production class. The goal is to provide young audiences with a live theatrical experience. These performances are free to the elementary schools. The plays are also educational. Bully Brontosaurus is the story of a young dinosaur, Ryan played by Monique Lechuga. Ryan gets picked on at school and the Bully Brontosaurus, played by Vanessa Carrillo, makes fun of Ryan on a daily basis. Ryan decides to bully back and through the help of her teacher learns that becoming a bully doesn’t solve anything. Ryan learns to understand Bully and why she was acting out against Ryan. By the end of the play, Ryan helps Bully and the two become friends.

Performing and spending time at the Phoenix Children’s Hospital was a memorable experience for the Theatre production class. After the performance, the cast and crew were given the opportunity to socialize and play games with the patients.
