Amanda Mitchell has been teaching music in the state of Arizona since 2006 and is currently the Choral Director at Glendale High School. Under her leadership, the program has tripled in size with a focus on excellence, musicianship, and camaraderie. The students participate in community outreach programs, perform at professional sporting events, and prepare a wide variety of music in the ensembles at Glendale. Additionally, she is the Vocal Music Professional Learning Community team leader and has served on the high school Honors and Awards Committee as well as the Intervention Committee, recognizing student achievement and support for students campus-wide. At the state level, Mrs. Mitchell currently serves as the Vice-President for Professional Development for AMEA and held the position of conference chair for the ACE board from 2011 to 2014. She was awarded the AMEA George C. Wilson Leadership/Service award in 2014. She has been a staff member with the Arizona Ambassadors of Music since 2009 and is a member of the National Association for Music Education, the Arizona Music Education Association, Arizona Choral Educators, and the Glendale Union Education Association. Mrs. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in Choral Music Education from Arizona State University.

Mrs. Mitchell is a graduate of the Glendale Union HS District, as well as her parents, who attended Glendale High School.
